Bylaws for Miss Holly’s Homeschool 2024-2025 

Article I: Purpose

The purpose of this homeschool is to promote educational excellence through the active involvement of parents/guardians whose child/children are enrolled in the homeschool. Miss Holly’s Classroom is an open forum of academic facilitation accomplished through a Socratic Method of discussion and idea sharing; as well as hands-on activities, repetition and exploration to reinforce concepts. The core subjects of Math, Language Arts, Science and History are taught daily/bi-weekly. The additional classes of art education, free-writing and Social Studies are implemented as often as time allows. The peripheral inclusion of Christian concepts and acknowledgment of God’s hand in all things are taught as often as possible. 

Article II: Membership

Section 1: Eligibility

Membership is open to children in grades 6-8, whose parents or legal guardians accept accountability for the homeschooling of their child/children. Children who attend must be willing to respect the classroom and everything therein, the teacher, and the learning environment. There will be three formally documented violations of these things before being asked to respectfully withdraw from the classroom. 

Section 2: Rights and Responsibilities

Parents/guardians shall actively participate in their child's education by ensuring regular communication, monitoring progress, and engaging in ongoing support. 

Section 3: Accountability

Members are responsible for upholding the homeschool’s values and actively contributing to their child's educational success in the following manner:

• Parents are required to enroll their child in NMPED Homeschool status and list themselves as their child’s primary educator by Aug. of 2024. I recommend that you print off a copy of that record and keep it in a safe place. This is your child’s student ID.

• Parents are responsible for the 14 supplemental school days needed to comply with NMPED “190 days of school attendance”. These days must be logged and accounted for by the family. I will offer 20+ days of supplemental school over the Summer, and every incoming child for the Fall is welcome to attend. Families need to document each supplemental day as three hours or more in an educational endeavor.  I will provide you with a PDF for documentation. 

• Attendance every calendared school day, with the exception of illness.

• Children arrive every day with their own lunch and snacks and a fully charged computer. 

• At home facilitation of independent reading 5 days a week, or a minimum of 90 min of total reading per week. 

• Completion of assignments at home, in the event that they are not completed in the classroom. This only happens when a child is not working in the classroom during the time offered.

• Tuition of $350 paid by the 5th of every month, 12 months a year. An additional $50 late fee after the 5th. 

• The cost of school supplies are currently factored at a cost of $200 per child per year. The supply cost can be paid yearly, or monthly, along with the monthly tuition during the ten full school months. This would make the monthly tuition $370

• Parents are required to conference with me quarterly, at a minimum, regarding their child’s progress, and commit to continue to support them at home; remembering that in the event of an audit, they are the legal “educator” of their child/children. It is necessary that they know their child's current courses of study and their overall aptitudes. 

I fully understand my responsibilities while my child is part of this educational facilitation classroom called Miss Holly’s Homeschool. My child and I will support all the requirements listed under Article II, Section Three.
